What You Can Do
To Keep Your Equipment Running Smoothly

Either You Maintain Your System
Or You Will Have To Call A Company For Service

  • Inspect your air filter every month, and replace it if it's dirty.  Clogged filters can cause the air conditioning to freeze up, furnaces to trip on high limit, and many other things.  Use a good pleated filter to better protect your equipment and cut down on dust deposits in your home

  • Turn off the system when cutting grass or other lawn maintenance so the clippings don't get sucked up into the outside unit.   Be careful when doing anything else near the outside unit and it's piping and electrical - it's all easily damaged.

  • Ants and bugs love the warmth and vibration of electricity, but they cause equipment malfunctions.  Apply ant/bug killer around the base of your outside unit if insects are a problem.

  • Don't landscape heavily near your outside equipment.  Maintain plenty of unobstructed airflow on the sides and especially above the outside unit by keeping plants & shrubs trimmed well away.

  • Always check breakers if your system is not operating.  Power surges can easily trip a breaker.  Sometimes it may not look tripped so it is a good idea to physical set the breaker to off and then back to on.  Some systems may be fused more than once.

  • Make sure your thermostat is set correctly.  The thermostat is not a like a gas pedal, to where the lower you set it, the colder the air will be coming out of the ducts. Consider a digital or programmable thermostat for better temperature control. If the system won't reach or maintain the temperature you selected on the thermostat, there's a problem - call us.
